PepsiCo Will Reach 100% Renewable Electricity

PepsiCo on Path to 100% Renwable Electricity

Company Joins Other Industry Giants

Many of America’s well-known snacks and beverages are soon be made entirely using 100% renewable energy. PepsiCo and associated brands like Frito-Lay and Gatorade are part of the giant’s announcement that it plans to achieve 100% renewable energy use for all of its direct operations in the U.S. this year.

PepsiCo’s announcement of 100% renewable electricity is part of the company’s global effort to achieve a full 20% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Domestic efforts build upon the company’s global progress in switching to renewable electricity around the world. For example:

❋   Nine countries in PepsiCo’s European direct operations already meet 100% of their electricity demand from renewable sources

❋   As of 2018,76% of the electricity needs of the PepsiCo Mexico Foods business were delivered via renewable energy.

The Global Renewable Energy Trend in Retail

As we shared earlier in World’s Biggest Corporations Value Solar Energy Investments , large companies across the globe are making clean energy a priority.

The compelling financial and environmental benefits mean non-retailers are on board with expanding their goals. For example, Financial-services giant Visa taps solar and wind energy, meeting its goal to use 100% renewable electricity by 2020 across its 131 offices in 76 countries and four global processing centers.

Massachusetts is Ideal Location for Solar Energy

Multinational corporations benefit from scale in both their purchasing power and the ability to acquire preferred financing. However, with the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program and routine policy enhancements, this state provides great investment returns whether a business is global, or a single location.

The state has also established a business environment that allows for some very creative financing options that make it possible for many to invest even with tight budgets.

So, while many of the most well-known brands capture the headlines, their actions also enhance industry in ways that benefit the smallest business. Making renewable energy popular at scale makes investing in renewable energy stocks more routinely advised. We may be approaching the point where the question will be, “Why haven’t you adopted a clean energy plan?”

We encourage any business owner or landlord to investigate your options to invest to save and join the clean energy wave.
